ABORTION RIGHTS ON EGYPT
ABORTION RIGHTS IN EGYPT
When we talk about human rights there's one right we talk about- the right to choose.
The choice can be in any form if they want to choose to be an architect or choose to follow any religion or choose not to carry on with their pregnancy.
Yes, we're talking about the right of women to choose the fate of their pregnancy. The choice is usually taken from them either by law or by society's norms.
Abortion Laws differ all across the world but they have one thing in common- they are designed by MEN who neither hold qualifications in the field of women's health nor a Uterus!
But these lawmakers still get to decide the future of women and bind them in the laws regarding the pregnancy that they are carrying.
Funny isn't it?
Talking about the Abortion law in Egypt states
"Abortion is prohibited by Articles 260–264 of the Penal Code of 1937.
However, under Article 61 of the Penal Code, exceptions may be granted in cases of necessity, which has typically been interpreted to permit an abortion necessary to save the pregnant woman's life.
In some cases, this exception has been extended to issues where the pregnancy poses dangers to the pregnant woman's health, and to cases of fetal impairment. A physician can only perform an abortion in such cases when two specialists approve unless the woman's life is in imminent danger."
Egypt has taken away the right of women to choose. They don't know the history of these women but feel free to bind them. No pregnancy can be terminated, only medical severe conditions where the fetus poses risk to its and the mother's health. But even in that case woman needs the consent of at least two physicians.
This shows how little, people actually care about women's health.
There was a Fatwa released by Manummad Sayyid in 1998 that rape victims can abort the pregnancy. This showed that maybe some people were actually woke and were working for the betterment of women's health.
He approved a draft bill that would permit abortion in the case of rape but the bill was unsuccessful.
Despite these strict regulations Abortions are common. One thing that people should never forget that you can never stop abortions, restricting abortion just makes it unsafe.
Abortions are carried out everywhere it's a basic health care that has to be provided to every woman. And taking away that is taking away their basic right.
Well done♥️
